An insulator that failed in the Cinergy substation at Church and Depot streets is believed to be responsible for the power outage Tuesday morning.
District Manager Rick Burger said relays were also suspect and were being examined in detail by Operations Supervisor Brad Reynolds and crew.
"I also want to thank our customers for their patience," Burger said. "We always do our best, but sometimes power failures occur."
The power outage was first reported at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday and affected 1,500 Cinergy customers in the Brazil area. Power was restored in phases. Customers in Colony Acres were the last to get electricity, at 10:30 a.m.
