Park Board makes addition to mowing contracts

Thursday, January 22, 2004

The Brazil Park and Recreation Board reviewed all contracts for 2004 at a special meeting Wednesday night at City Hall.

The mowing contracts had one addition. Cuts are to be made on the cross country track and north of the building at Craig Park equal to the number of all other contracted cuts. Mowing bids will be opened at the February meeting.

The YMCA and Clay Youth League had language added to their contracts stating that they had first right of refusal for use of the softball and baseball facilities respectively.

A specific time frame for payment was determined for Rotary and the Popcorn Festival. Rotary will pay their fee by July 1, and any donations will be made by the end of the calendar year. Popcorn Festival will pay an established fee by Oct. 1 and any donations can be made by the end of February of the following year.

The Civil War Reenactment group chose not to renew their contract and will not have a presentation in a Brazil park this year.

Organizations whose contracts were reviewed were: Senior Citizens-Forest Park pool concession stand; Humane Society-Forest Park central concession stand; Civil War Reenactment Group; Rotary; YMCA; Clay Youth League; Popcorn Festival; Brazil Concert Band; Christmas in the Park.

Park Board looking for contractors

The Park Board said the roof on the Forest Park pool house needs to be replaced. They want to replace the existing roof with the same type of material and are looking for the material and work to have a reasonable guarantee.

The Board has received one estimate at this time. That estimate will be considered at the February meeting. The Board would like to have comparative estimates.

Any interested contractors should call Park Board Treasurer John Tilley at 812-448-3935 or Board Vice President Brad Deal at 812-448-1461.
