Jeff Stewart will enter the May 5 Republican primary in an effort to win his party's nomination. Stewart announced on Friday his intention to seek the District Two County Commissioner's seat.
"A number of residents and several community leaders have encouraged me to become a candidate," he said. "I have been concerned with the progress and prosperity of our county for some time and feel my experience in finance, coupled with my roots in the community, will enable me to begin moving Clay County forward. Serving the people of Clay County will allow me the opportunity to give back to the community that has been so good to me and my family."
Stewart, who has been in finance for over 16 years, currently serves as senior vice president and senior credit officer of Terre Haute Savings Bank. Previously, Jeff served as president and CEO of First State Bank, as well as chairman of First State Bank's Board of Directors. He has also taught various courses at Ivy Tech State College.

He has also been a volunteer coach in Clay Youth League and various soccer programs.
