According to Police Chief Mark Loudermilk, workers are "still plugging away," installing the stoplight at the intersection of U.S. 40 and Wheeler St., in front of Wal-Mart, despite the unfavorable weather. "I think they're getting pretty close," he added.
Bill Smith of the Indiana Department of Transportation agreed, but said that they have not set a completion date yet. "That's dependent upon the weather," he said. The contractor apparently has some pavement markings a few other tasks to finish that cannot be taken care of until the snow is out of the way.
"We're hopeful that it will be sooner instead of later," Smith stated. He also said that he will notify The Times when the signal is closer to being put into operation.
