An inaugural Ms. Wheelchair Indiana Pageant will be held on March 27, 2004. Individuals are still needed to participate in the pageant. There is a $20 registration fee. Requirements for participants are as follows:
- Must use a wheelchair as primary means of mobility
- Are between the ages of 21 and 60 and are a U.S. citizen
This is not a typical beauty contest. This is an experience that can help those who enter achieve their goals and share their dreams and accomplishments with others. The purpose of the Ms. Wheelchair Indiana Pageant is to focus public attention on the abilities and accomplishments of the individual since the onset of their disability. Each candidate's self-perception and how she uses her communication skills to deliver this important message to both disabled and able-bodied groups will be celebrated.
The winner of the Ms. Wheelchair Indiana Pageant will participate in the Ms. Wheelchair America Pageant from July 27 to Aug. 1 in Richmond, Va.
