Jake Jackson, a member of the Clay City High School band directed by Kevin Reberger, has been selected to participate in the 44th annual Indiana All-State High School Band Festival sponsored by the Indiana Bandmasters Association.
Each student earned this honor by participating in a highly competitive audition held in early January at nine centers across Indiana. Nearly 900 musicians applied to audition. A selection committee then reviewed tape recordings from each center. One hundred seventy-two high school band members were selected.
Dr. Thomas Caneva, assistant director of bands at the University of Illinois, will direct the 89-piece Indiana All-State Band. In addition to the regular all-state band, there is a select honor band. Dr. Gary Hill, director of bands at Arizona State University, will direct the 83-member All-State Honor Band.
All members will participate in a series of activities including seating auditions, sectionals and full rehearsals from March 12-14. A grand finale concert will be presented to the general public on March 14 at 2:30 p.m. in the Musical Arts Center on the Indiana University, Bloomington, campus.
