Three out of four Democrat Party offices were chosen by acclamation Saturday afternoon in Brazil City Hall.

The occasion was a specially called Democrat Party caucus to replace Chair Linda Moreau, who resigned Feb. 26 due to her health.

Vice Chair Guy Dickerson called the meeting to order at 2 p.m. Saturday. Before asking for nominations, Dickerson told the group, "I'm not interested in becoming the chair."

Joe Broyles of Bowling Green was chosen to be the new chair by acclamation of Democrats who signed in before taking their seats at the meeting.

Democrat Party rules require a male and female to occupy the two top spots, so when Broyles was chosen chair, Dickerson had to resign to make way for a female vice chair. Ann Bradshaw of Brazil, a City Council member, was chosen to be Vice Chair.

Dickerson then announced that Party Secretary Vicki Lawhorn was resigning as well. Ed Nevins of Staunton was chosen by acclamation Saturday to fill the secretary's position.

Rita Rothrock will continue in her position as Party Treasurer.
