The victim of a three-vehicle wreck Monday afternoon at the intersection of SR 59 and CR 500 N. was identified as Misty D. Clingerman, 19, of Knightsville.
According to police reports, Clingerman was on her way to work at the Brazil Family Restaurant. She was headed east on CR 500 N. on the west side of St. Rd. 59 in her 1983 Civic Honda when she pulled out, attempting to go north on SR 59.
E. Billy Rogers, 21, Brazil, was southbound on SR 59 driving a 1988 Chevrolet pick-up pulling a trailer hauling lawnmowers. He attempted to stop but was unable to do so. When Rogers' truck hit Clingerman's car, both vehicles slid into the northbound lane of SR 59 into the path of William L. Carr, 44, Poland.
Carr was northbound driving a 1993 GMC tow truck. He attempted to get off the road to the right to avoid colliding with the other vehicles but could not. He crashed into Clingerman and Rogers and all three vehicles ended up in the front yard of resident James Dressler.
Clingerman was entrapped in her car and had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was transported by Athens Ambulance to the local hospital where she was pronounced dead due to internal injuries and chest trauma. Rogers suffered minor abrasions. Carr was uninjured. The accident is still under investigation.
