Clay City FFA places at Oklahoma City

Wednesday, May 26, 2004

The Clay City FFA chapter participated in the 53rd annual National Land and Range Judging Contest in Oklahoma City, Okla. The group competed in the nation's top land judging event. In FFA land judging the Clay City team placed first in the Northeast Region and fourth overall. Individual recognition was presented to John Edwards for 10th place ranking and Estil Caton was awarded 9th. A complete list of results is available online at www.landjudging.com.

Members of the Clay City chapter tested their individual and team skills against other land judging teams from approximately 35 states across the nation by evaluating land characteristics like topsoil, subsoil slope and plant life. They were also required to recommend treatment to improve the land's adaptability for certain purposes like producing crops, raising cattle or building homes.
