The Tiger Woods wannabes of Clay County have a chance to drive away from the golf course with a new 2004 Chevrolet Aveo if they enter the YMCA golf scramble June 12. Once again, Marty Jaffe of Brazil Autoplex will have a car available, valued at $12,540, for the first person who can make a hole-in-one on the 11th hole.
YMCA golf scramble chairman Jeff Deakins said the scramble will be at the Forest Park Golf Course with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. There is an entry fee of $50 per person or $200 per team. Registration will allow individuals to play 18 holes, eat lunch, have an opportunity for skill prizes and a chance at the new car.
Entrants may sign up at the YMCA and are asked to register by June 7. There will be no make-up date but if the scramble is rained out participants will get 18 holes with a cart at a later date.
Teams may consist of both men and women. For all-women teams, there will be a separate women's division. Skill prizes will be awarded for both the men and women divisions.
YMCA CEO Nancy Berkheiser said all of the money from the scramble will be used to provide memberships and programs at the YMCA for residents who can't afford the fees and qualify for the assistance.
"I hope lots of folks come out and have lots of fun," Berkheiser said.
