Woman wins $8,000 on 'Hoosier Millionaire'

Davonna Airhart of Carbon won $8,000 on Saturday's "Hoosier Millionaire" show.

Airhart was one of the contestants in the first "Hoosier Millionaire" road show this year. The show was taped at the Hammond Civic Center. The sixth contestant on the show, Jim Lee, was drawn from the audience. The next road show is scheduled for June 16 in Fort Wayne.

Airhart competed against five other contestants for the chance to advance to the "Hoosier Millionaire" Doubler round, where contestants can win up to $1 million.

The five other contestants and their prize amounts were:

-Eddie Dunning, Indianapolis, $8,000

-Nicholas Elias (proxy for Mona Elias), Fort Wayne, $12,000, including a Sony Home Entertainment prize package valued at $4,000

-Arcelia Gonzales, Elkhart, $28,000

-Jim Lee, Hammond, $7,000

-Michael McBrier, Bristol, $6,000

The "Hoosier Millionaire" show has created 184 millionaires since its inception and is one of Indiana's top-rated television programs.

Since the Hoosier Lottery was started in 1989, more than $2.4 billion have been raised for the state to help fund police, fire and teacher pensions; Build Indiana projects; education; excise tax reduction for most Hoosier car owners; and other programs the legislature designates.
