Today's the day for a great car show and to help children.
The sixth annual Brazil Times Toys for Tots Car Show will be 9 a.m.-1 p.m. today in The Brazil Times parking lot, 100 N. Meridian St.
Not only will visitors have the opportunity to see great cars, lovingly cared for by their owners, but all proceeds will go to the Clay County Toys for Tots program to benefit the less fortunate.
A Sony AM-FM CD car stereo and 160-watt speaker system will be raffled off at the show. Tickets cost $1 each or six for $5 at the show.
There will also be many door prizes given away at no charge to visitors.
T-shirts, in white and fluorescent, will be available for $10.
Car owners can register 9-11 a.m. to win awards in 10 categories. Registration costs $9 and each owner can enter a car in only one class. The class types include Street Rod (any year), Convertibles (open, any year), Decades (all makes) 1920-'49, 1950-'59, 1960-'69, 1970-'79 and after 1980, Trucks (all makes-any year), Specialty (all makes-any year) and Best of Show.
After you have enjoyed the DJ and entertainment, stroll across the street to see WSDM's Crushed Classic automobile and you will have 98 minutes to gather clues and guess the make and model. The cube will be displayed in the First National Bank & Trust parking lot.
The winner will receive a fully restored 1966 Thunderbird with a 429 V8 engine and a brand new $5,000 custom sound system. The winner will be selected in a special Father's Day prize show on June 20.
