Area 7 Agency On Aging and Disabled is a nutrition program that provides a hot noon home-delivered meal Monday through Friday to eligible homebound persons age 60 and older or disabled, if applicable to specific guidelines. The meals are available on a donation basis and provides a daily check on their well-being.
Meal services are funded through the Older American's Act, Social Service Block Grant, Medicaid Waiver, CHOICE, United Way, client contributions and other fund-raising activities.
Volunteers are needed to assist with assembling, packaging and delivering meals in the senior citizens' apartment high-rises and complexes. Those interested in volunteering can contact the Nutrition Office at (812) 238-1561 or the Clay County Senior Citizens Center at 448-8848. Ask for the Nutrition site director.
Donation sponsors help homebound clients who cannot afford to contribute.
The organization's mission is to assist individuals in remaining a viable part of their communities for as long as possible.
