A word from the princess

Hello, my name is Paige Smith and I am the reigning 2003 Clay County 4-H Princess. I can't believe how quickly the last year has gone and what a great time it was.

During my reign as princess I had the opportunity to participate in many wonderful activities and meet many wonderful, helpful and kind people. The fair was exciting with all of the different activities such as the livestock events, the exhibition hall, and a cook-off and of course "fun night". The whipped cream pies and shaving, water guns, egg toss, balloon toss and bubble gum blowing was great.

Handing out well-deserved ribbons and trophies was a lot of fun too. Each day spent as the fairgrounds was a great day. In addition to the fair there were parades, awards night, getting dunked in a dunk tank and now, preparing for the 2004 Clay County 4-H Princess Pageant. The pageant is coming soon and I hope many of you participate. A tea will be held the week before the pageant to answer questions and meet the other contestants. During the week of the pageant, contestants will practice walking, turning and interviewing in preparation for the actual pageant. All of which are a great time! Anyone interested in participating should contact Elaine Clarke at 446-6203 or clarkereclarke@aol.com. I hope to see you as a participant in this year's pageant on July 17!
