Sunday band concert in park to feature music of Tijuana Brass, Spike Jones

The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, will present "A Salute To Fathers' Day", Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Forest Park Bandshell or Pavillion if inclement weather.

The BCB urges one and all to bring Dad to the concert for a free night of entertainment under the stars. The BCB will offer several brand new selections including "A Salute To Spike Jones", arranged by Custer, which includes hilarious spoofs on "Cocktails for Two", "Chloe" and "Poet and Peasant" with all the nonsense and duckcalls for which Jones was famous.

The 60s sounds of Herb Alpert in "Tijuana Brass In Concert" arranged by Ricketts includes "Spanish Flea", "Whipped Cream", "The Lonely Bull" and "Tijuana Taxi".

Marches of the week include" "Revelation" by Chambers/Bourgeois, "March Ponderoso" by King, "The Daughters of Texas" by Sousa , "Colonel Miner's March" and "Remembrance of Colonel Miner" both by Rosenkrans.

From Brazil, South America, the BCB will present "Hortensia" arranged by Neves and from New Orleans, the lively "Dixieland Concerto" complete with a Dixieland band.

The BCB will also program "Basque Rhapsody" by Shelton, "Porgy and Bess" arranged by Yoder and "Sword Dance" arranged by Lang.
