Five new Clay County Reserve Deputies were sworn in Monday at the Clerk's office. They were Greg Barnett II, John Maesch, Taylor Schuch and Benny Boes and Pat Poole.

They met at the Sheriff's Department prior to the swearing in ceremony. The men just completed a comprehensive course meeting State and County requirements. The reserve officers will begin their duties working throughout Forest Park this week during the Rotary 4th of July Celebration.

Barnett and Schuch both hope to get full time jobs in law enforcement.

Boes, who intends to work as a reserve part time, said, "When I was a kid I never got to do anything military. I felt like that was a void in my life. So if I can serve my community on the local level I'll feel like I'm contributing."

Maesch, too, is pursuing part time service as a Reserve.

"I've got the time now," he said. "Before I didn't. Basically I want to help the community. I've ridden with the Deputies before and I enjoyed it. If I can help, I'll do it."
