Park concert features 'Stars and Stripes'

The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, will present "The Stars and Stripes Forever!" Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Forest Park Bandshell or Pavilion if inclement weather.

This special edition concert is 90 minutes long with an intermission. Following the BCB's patriotic program, Mark Adamson will present a fireworks show.

The BCB will showcase several brand new patriotic medleys including "The Ultimate Patriotic Singalong" by Brubaker, "Star Spangled Salute" by Barnes, "Fourth of July" by Cacavas, "The Light Eternal" by Swearingen, "Armed Forces Salute" by Lowden and "Painting the Town Red, White and Blue" by Goodman.

The finest of patriotic marches will strut forward such as "E Pluribus Unum" by Jewell, "The Chimes of Liberty" by Goldman, and "Fugue on Yankee Doodle", "The Liberty Bell," "Semper Fidelis" and "The Stars and Stripes Forever" all by Lt. Commander John Philip Sousa.

The BCB will present "Overture 1812" in a setting by Laurendeau for military band.

On Tuesday, the BCB will perform its patriotic program in Kresge Auditorium on the DePauw University campus in Greencastle at 7 p.m. courtesy of the Greencastle Civic League.

The BCB's compact disc, "Jewell of the Wabash" will be on sale at both performance sites.

The Brazil Concert Band performs every Sunday evening in Forest Park at 8 p.m. through the end of August.
