42 children from three states run in sack races

The 29th Annual Sack Race took place Sunday at Forest Park with a total of 42 participants hailing from Indiana, Illinois and Michigan. The races were sponsored by John Thomas of the Brazil Rotary who handed out $90 in cash to the winners.

In the seven years and younger race, Brett Patterson of Plainfield took home first, Wyatt Sutherland of Brazil came in second and Haili Branson of Brazil placed third.

Nine years and younger winners were Tyler Sutherland of Brazil in first, Whitney Halfhill of Brazil in second and Staci Willyard of Brazil in third.

In the first heat of the 11 and younger race Janelle Lucas of Terre Haute claimed first place, Hayle Lowery of Bluford, Ill., came in second and Wyatt Baysinger of Brazil in third. In the category's second race Alexandria Clegg of Indianapolis came in first, Justin Tallman of Brazil placed second, and Jackie White of Greenwood placed third.

Donald Barnes of Brazil took home first in the 13 and younger race with Joshua Lawson of Farmersburg taking home second and Dakota Beverly of Grand Haven, Mich., third. In another 13 and younger race Jessica Tallman and Devon Epple of Brazil tied for first, Patrick Patterson of Plainfield placed second and Jessica McCullough of Terre Haute came in third.

The 15 and younger category was the final race of the day with Zach White of Brazil taking home first, Greg White of Brazil placing second and Justin White of Brazil and Samantha Clegg of Indianapolis tying for third.
