Cinergy crews can see the light at the end of the tunnel. All power has been restored to Terre Haute and Brazil Cinergy customers, Rick Burger reported at 5 a.m. today.
People in Clinton are not as fortunate. There are still 239 people without electricity in that area, 2,600 customers statewide. The reason, Burger said, is that Cinergy has to restore power to individual customers and some of those customers need to repair electric equipment at their buildings before Cinergy can safely hook them up again.
In addition to Cinergy employees, crews from Lafayette and Indiana Power and Light Co. are continuing to work around the clock to restore power across the state.
A storm that hit western Indiana Tuesday afternoon cut power to 136,000 customers statewide; the greatest number were in the Brazil and Terre Haute area, according to Cinergy spokesperson Angeline Protogere.
Meanwhile, residents will want to watch the weather today. Possibly strong storms are forecast for this evening.
