Several officials from state and county levels showed up at the Clay County Courthouse Friday afternoon to take part in the ceremonial groundbreaking of the new Clay County Jail. The new jail, which will house 156 inmates, is expected to be completed in 18 months or less. Before the groundbreaking, spectators heard speeches from Sheriff Rob Carter, Judge Ernest Yelton, and County Commissioners President David Parr.
