The United Way of the Wabash Valley announced their 2004 campaign goal recently at the Pilot Campaign Kick-off.
Campaign Chair Rick Burger of Cinergy PSI and United Way Campaign Director Jim Bertoli proudly announced the goal of $2,375,000 to an eager crowd at the Charles Hyte Community Center in Terre Haute.
The goal was based on a community needs assessment, which was determined by the 2004 Campaign Cabinet. The final figure holds an increase of over $200,000 from the amount raised in last year's campaign.
The Pilot Campaign Kick-off is the first step of the campaign season. The "Pilots" are companies or agencies who will conduct campaigns within their own organization in July and August. With an increase of 39 new Pilots along with all 11 of last year's Pilots on board, the United Way of the Wabash Valley is expecting a great start toward achieving the campaign goal.
The Pilot Campaign allows local businesses and agencies to become involved with their community, as well as give a head start to the overall community campaign which is set to begin with a Campaign Kick-off celebration at the Hulman Center Aug. 27.
