Two detained in school vandalism

Two juveniles have been detained by the Brazil Police Department for their involvement in the break-in and destruction of property at the Meridian Elementary.

According to Chief of Police Mark Loudermilk, 14-year-old and 16-year-old male juveniles were detained on July 20 concerning the crime.

Detective Martin Beasley interviewed many juveniles in connection with the case and feels that more charges will be filed later. The boys will be held at a detention center until a hearing is scheduled later in the week.

At last estimate, the school corporation thinks the damage will be in the $45,000 to $50,000 range.
