The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, will present "Variations For A Summer's Night Out" Sunday Aug. 1, 8 p.m., at the Forest Park Bandshell or Pavilion if inclement weather.
Those variations include "Carnival Of Venice" arranged by Herbert L. Clarke of the Sousa Band and features Bandsman John Philip Huber, euphonium, performing a wide range of variations of this famous Italian song. Huber has performed with the Indiana All State Honor Band, the Sousa National Honor Band, the ISU All Star Band, IMEA Honor Band, the University of Evansville Tri-State Honor Band and was recently selected to the Hershey All-USA High School Band. A senior at Greencastle High School, Huber has performed at the state solo contest since 8th grade.
March fans will enjoy keeping the beat to "The Atlantic City Pageant" and "The Diplomat" both by Sousa, "The Checkered Flag" by Jewell and "A Royal Welcome Home" and "All Honor To Old Glory" both by Rosenkrans. Also, "March Of The Belgian Paratroopers" edited by Bourgeois.
The long-awaited "Big Band Signatures" of several 1940s favorites is on tap along with Gershwin's "Porgy And Bess" and Grainger's "Country Gardens" in a setting by Sousa.
The BCB will also perform Aug. 5 at The Ritz in Rockville at 7 p.m. Admission is charged for this special performance.
