A man allegedly tried to coax three or four girls into going with him to his car on July 31 at Hillman's Market in Poland.
According to investigating officer Sgt. Rob Gambill, a report had come in earlier regarding a man driving recklessly leaving Brazil.
The driver, Frank Johnson, apparently ended up in Poland. Later a call came from an employee at Hillman's Market in Poland saying Johnson was trying to coax three or four girls into going with him to his car. The girls were all believed to be under the age of 13. Reserve Deputies Mike Deakins and Josh Clarke were dispatched to the scene as Gambill was in another part of the county at that time.
Johnson was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and taken to the Clay County Jail. A witness said Johnson had been seen drinking 24 to 30 cans of beer throughout the day before taking off in his automobile headed towards Poland. Another 24 cans of beer were found in the car at the time of the arrest.
No charges have yet been filed regarding the interaction with the girls. The case is still under investigation and the Clay County Prosecuting Attorney is reviewing the probable cause. Johnson may be involved in another incident as well.
He was in the Clay County jail at press time Tuesday morning under $7,000 bond awaiting arraignment.
