A seven-year-old boy from Rockville was struck by a legally blind man on a motorcycle Sunday afternoon.
The boy, whose name was not released, was riding his bicycle on E. CR 875, two miles north of SR 36. James C. Harris, 33, of Rockville, was travelling on a 1985 Suzuki 123 motorcycle when he struck the boy. Investigating officer Jason Sullivan said Harris is legally blind and not eligible for a driver's license.
The boy was sent to St. Vincent Clay Hospital. His current condition was not released. Sullivan said in a prepared statement that the boy was wearing a bicycle helmet, which "may have kept him from serious injury."
Harris will be charged with operator never being licensed and criminal recklessness. He is being held at Parke County Jail on $3,500 bond.
