Police having phone problems

Wednesday, August 4, 2004

The Clay County Sheriff's Office has received numerous complaints from citizens in Clay and Vigo counties regarding excessive phone charges from Correctional Billing, Inc., a subsidiary of Evercom Phone Systems, Inc. These citizens had never accepted a call from the Clay County Jail.

This problem was the result of a computer glitch with Evercom Systems and was fixed immediately after the Sheriff's Department was made aware of it.

Citizens who have received excessive charges on their phone bill and have never accepted a collect call from the jail are asked to contact Lt. Robert Judd, Clay County Jail Commander, at 448-9051, Melinda Parsons of Evercom Systems at 888-664-5245, or Sheriff Rob Carter at 812-446-2535 as soon as possible.
