Jason Frazier, left, was sworn in as a new Deputy for the Clay County Sheriff's Department Thursday in Clay Circuit Court by Judge Ernest Yelton. Sheriff Rob Carter, center, holds the Bible for Frazier as Judge Yelton performs the ceremony.

Jason Frazier became the newest Clay County Sheriff's Deputy Thursday morning as he was sworn in by Judge Ernest Yelton in the Clay Circuit Court. Frazier had worked for the Brazil City Police Department for the past year and a half.

"My time with the City has prepared me for a lot of challenges I'm going to face in the county," Frazier said. "I appreciate the opportunity the Brazil Police Department gave me to get my law career started. I want to thank the chief, officers and staff for all their help."

Frazier is having a lot of new experiences in his life. The new deputy is getting married to Jayne Youngblood Sept. 25. And he'll become a new step-dad to Youngblood's son Chandler Jenkins.

Standing with his family at the courthouse after the swearing in, Frazier shook hands with Yelton, Carter and other City and County Officers who were present.

"I'm excited to get started and continue my law enforcement career," he said.
