Schools preparing for new year

Tuesday, August 10, 2004

The first day of school for students in Clay Community Schools for the 2004-05 school year will be Aug. 18. Teachers will report on Aug. 17 at Northview High School for a general organizational meeting.

All principals are now on duty in their building. Anyone with questions should contact the school in which their child is enrolled. Questions concerning specific enrollment dates for each elementary school should be directed to that school.

All Clay City Elementary 6th grade students need to bring proof of their second MMR Vaccination to the school prior to the first day.

The schedule for enrolling, school visitations, paying textbook rental, etc., for Clay City Jr./Sr. High, North Clay Middle School and Northview is as follows:

Clay City -- Class schedules and book rental forms for students in grades 7 through 12 were to be mailed to students on or about Aug. 6. Book rental may be paid in the high school office through Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

New students may register in the guidance office through Friday. Call the school at 939-2154 to schedule an appointment with a counselor. The counselors will not be available Aug. 16, as they will be attending an all-day meeting, or on Aug. 17, because of a faculty in-service day.

A special Grade 7 Orientation Night is scheduled for this Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Auditeria for both students and parents. As a variety of issues will be discussed, all grade 7 students and parents are urged to attend.

All students, except for grade 7, will report to their first period classes on Aug. 18. Seventh grade students will report to the Auditeria.

North Clay -- Students new to the school corporation should contact the office between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to be enrolled.

Grade 7 and 8 students can visit the school, buy P.E. uniforms, pay book rental and pick up their schedule and ID/lunch card at the bookstore Thursday between 3 and 6 p.m. or Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Grade 6 students can pick up their schedules at the day camp on Aug. 16. Supplies may be purchased from the North Clay bookstore that day.

All 6th grade students need to bring proof of their second MMR vaccination to the Aug. 16 Day Camp.

Northview -- Students may pick up schedules from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Aug. 16.

There will be no class schedule changes except to correct a schedule mistake or balance classes as per the policy in the Course Description Booklet. Any student having a scheduling mistake needs to make an appointment by calling Northview. All other scheduling questions can be answered after school starts by signing up to see a counselor.
