4-H is the largest youth organization in the United States. 303,000 youth from ages 9 to 19 belong to 4-H in Indiana. It is an affirmative action, equal opportunity institution.
Funding for the 4-H comes from fund raising, Purdue University and the United Way, as well as others.
All members of the 4-H council, Extension Board, fairgrounds committee, 4-H club leaders and project superintendents are volunteers. They donate their time to assist the 4-H'ers. Our program would be impossible without volunteers.
The mission of the 4-H program is to provide strong educational experiences in a variety of settings to help develop youth into responsible, caring adults. Caring, capable and contributing adults assist in the program and serve as models for the youth. Strong leadership skills are also learned by the 4-H'ers.
