The City of Brazil was without water Sunday following the break of an 18-inch water main along U.S. 40 near Great Dane. The break was reported as a leak around 9 a.m.
"The water main split, like it did in December," Mayor Tom Arthur said.
The mayor visited the area and expected water to be out for most of the day.
At 12:30 p.m., a repair crew had unearthed most of the broken area of the pipe and expected to begin repairs shortly thereafter.
Last December, the water main broke in the same area as Sunday's break. In March, a 4-inch water line near Hardee's on U.S. 40 broke.
In both instances, a boil order was issued, requiring residents to boil drinking/cooking water before consuming it. A boil order usually continues for three days until a water test determines the city water supply is safe for drinking.
