Mark calendars for The Brazil Times cooking show

Tuesday, September 14, 2004

The Brazil Times is proud to present "Taste of Clay County" Cooking Show, Saturday, Sept. 25 at North Clay Middle School. The show will be held in the cafeteria, a very nice facility with a stage and plenty of room. The doors will open at 5 p.m. so ticket holders will have time to browse the many booths set up at the show. Local merchants will display their goods and services and hand out goodies.

Speaking of goodies, each ticket holder will also receive a bag full of suprises such as recipes, coupons, pens, magnets, etc.

The show will then start at 7 p.m. featuring Dr. Richard Frankville. He will prepare on stage many homecooked recipes that many of us have forgotten or never got the recipe from our grandmothers, such as Chicken and Dumplings, Apple Butter and Italian Beef. He will throw in some of his own specialties such as vegetable pizza and cheddar biscuits. Dr. Frankville has written a recipe book called "Low Carb for Life' so he is definitely qualified, but these recipes are nothing but carbs, calories and taste!

There are several reasons we were not able to bring the "Taste of Home Cooking School" to Clay County this year. The "Taste of Home" requires at least 700 people in attendance. Which is not a problem since we have had tremendous support thoughout the years but finding a facility to hold that many people is. Mitch Chetham, owner of the old Brazil Jr. High School has been gracious to let us use his building in past years. But unfortunately there was a communication problem between us and the "Taste of Home" had to give our date to someone else before we could confirm the building. The "Taste of Home" also requires use of the building from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on a weekday which makes Northview or North Clay unavailable.

We plan to make this year's Taste of Clay County as entertaining and informative as any "Taste of Home" show we have had so join us for a great evening. Tickets are on sale now for only $5 at The Brazil Times office 8 a.m to 5 p.m. and $1.00 from each ticket will go to Clay County Toys for Tots.
