Apples of every kind, for every purpose, can be found at this year's Cory Apple Festival in one form or another.
The annual event, now in its 35th year, will be Friday-Sunday. Originally sponsored by the fire department and citizens to keep the old Cory High School maintained as a community center, it is now the sole fundraiser for the volunteer fire department.
Residents of Cory welcome everyone to share in the festivities and remember Cory's history. A display can be viewed in the firehouse.
Friday will kick off the weekend with breakfast with the Hi-99 Waking Crew in the firehouse 6-10 a.m. Adult meals cost $3 and children's $2.
Check out the numerous craft, flea market and antique booths around town. A farm show and toy display are also planned.
A hog roast will be 4-8 p.m. at the firehouse. Adult plates are $6 and children's $3.
Carnival and rides will open at 5 p.m. Bracelet night will run 5-10 p.m.
From 5-8 p.m., Party On Productions with Bert will be at the pavilion. Listen or participate in karaoke and games. Prizes will be awarded.
At 6:30 p.m., the Little Miss Cory Apple Festival show will be at the Methodist Church. Ages 10-16 will compete. Due to the number of entries, ages 3-9 will compete tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church.
Saturday will again begin with breakfast at the firehouse and all booths will be open 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Helicopter rides will be offered.
A 1-mile fun run/walk and 5K race will begin with registrations 7:30-8:30 a.m. Competition will begin at 8:45 and 9:10 a.m. For more information, call (812) 864-2422.
A Children's Carnival will be open for those ages 12 and younger.
The Jonah Fish Fry will begin at noon and run until 8 p.m. Adult meals cost $6.50 and children's $3.
Hoosier Hills will host its annual golf scramble at 12:30 p.m. Call (812) 864-2304.
Entertainment will begin at 2 p.m. with gospel music by Heaven's Jubilee. A cruise-in car show will be 4-8 p.m. Call (812) 864-2210. Step By Step Dance & Tumbling will have an exhibition 4:30-5:30 p.m. The evening will conclude with music by Country Thunder.
Sunday will begin with a biscuits and gravy breakfast at 7 a.m.
The community worship service will be at 9:10 a.m. with music by The Servants.
Crafts, flea market, antique show, farm show and toy display, carnival and helicopter rides will be open 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
A chicken and noodle dinner will be 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the firehouse. Adult meals cost $6 and children's $3.
The Servants will again perform 1-2:30 p.m.
