City workers expected to finish cleaning up 710 S. Leavitt St. Friday.
Brazil Planning and Zoning Administrator Michele Driscoll, said the city has been working on this project since last year.
She has been unable to locate the owner of the abandoned house. If ownership is not established, with the proprietor paying the clean up costs, the City will put a lien against the property.
"It's probably owned by a bank somewhere," Driscoll said. "Once we've searched for the owner or responsible party and come to the end of our search, our only legal recourse is to advertise in the paper and see if anyone will step forward. On this one, nobody did."
Brazil City Street Department Assistant Supervisor Mike Head, said the back yard was filled with scrap wood, fence posts embedded in concrete, old tires and wheels, odds and ends and a lot of loose trash.
