Taking care of officers who take care of us

Saturday, October 23, 2004

(Photo)
Officers from the Brazil City Police and Clay County Sheriff's Departments were honored with a ham and bean luncheon Tuesday by the Eastside Christian Church. They were recognized in memory of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists attacks which claimed the lives of many public servants while selflessly working to help their fellow Americans.

Church member Mary Hendrickson said the church has a quarterly dinner for its shut-ins and to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. They added the police officers and firemen at this observance out of respect for the 9/11 tragedy. She hopes to make this an annual event.

Members of the fire department were invited but were on assignment and unable to attend at the time the photo was taken.
