Mayor Tom Arthur and Police Chief Mark Loudermilk have issued a temporary no parking order on the south side of Mechanic St., on Nov. 10-11.
The order was issued because S and G Excavating will install a water tap for the new Clay County Jail on Nov. 10-11. Therefore, the City will close Vandalia St. from Jackson St. to Mechanic St. to through traffic. However, it will be open to residents needing to access their homes.
During this time, Morris Manufacturing and Britt Tool will lose access to their plants via the access road off Vandalia St. The temporary no parking order is being issued to not disrupt Morris Manufacturing's shipping and receiving, according to a statement issued by the Mayor's Office.
