Twenty-two members of the Key Club and the Bible Club from Northview High School got together to beautify Forest Park, Craig Park, and Babe Wheeler Park on Oct. 30.
Mayor Tom Arthur, former Northview teacher and sponsor of the Key Club, spoke to the group while enjoying breakfast prepared by seven men from the Loyal Bereans Sunday School Class at First Christian Church. His inspirational talk motivated the students to never give up seeking their dreams while making sure to hit the books for an education.
Afterwards, the students divided into three groups: Dianna Knox, speech teacher at Northview and sponsor of the Key Club, took a group of students to Craig Park, Susan Treash, Northview guidance counselor and co-sponsor of the Bible Club, took her students to Babe Wheeler Park, while Bev Hooker, a special education teacher at North-view and co-sponsor of the Bible Club, took her group to Forest Park.
The students wore gloves and used trash bags donated by the Kiwanis Club to pick up trash and cigarette butts at all three parks for two hours.
