On Friday, Clay County made a very positive impression on representatives of Peru's Southern District Rotary Club.
"We were surprised by the technology we have seen," said Patricia Becerra, a resident of South America. "We were very impressed by the people we met; so friendly, so kind."
The group visited Brickcraft (the new brick factory located on S.R. 59 near the county highway garage) and Clay City Pottery in the morning before lunch at Kleptz's restaurant in Seelyville. Then, they were off to Technifab, St. Vincent Clay Hospital and PDF in the afternoon. The group was escorted by Bill McDonald and Mitch Chalos and had lunch with Sally Schutte, Sam Glover and Sam Crawn, all members of the Brazil Rotary Club.
The group, consisted of Luis Palacios, a Rotarian and economist, Lita Mora, economist, Percy Ponce, chemical engineer, Jaime Verano, agricultural engineer and Becerra, who works in human resources.
The group, selected by the Rotary Clubs of Peru's southern district, is spending 30 days touring the southern counties of Indiana. It is part of an exchange program sponsored by Rotary International. In March, a group selected by the Southern Indiana Rotarians will visit Peru.
