The Christmas in the Park Parade will start at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Entrants may assemble in the lineup area any time after 5 p.m.
Line-up this year has been changed to North Vandalia Street.
The parade route will be one block longer this year, beginning at Vandalia St., proceeding west on National Ave., and ending at Depot St. Spectators are encouraged to make use of the extra block of viewing area.
People are asked not to park along the parade route on National Ave. after 5 p.m. Parked cars not only interfere with parade viewing, they result in spectators standing on the street close to the center lane, creating safety issues.
Entrants not familiar with the area should take the following routes to reach the lineup area:
FROM THE EAST ON U.S. 40: Turn north on Murphy Ave. at the first stoplight west of Wal-Mart. Turn west at the first stop sign (Hendrix St.). Turn south at the next stop sign (Vandalia St.).
FROM THE NORTH ON S.R. 59: Turn east at the first stop sign coming into Brazil (Hendrix St.). Turn south at the next stop sign (Vandalia St.).
FROM THE SOUTH ON S.R. 59: Proceed through town to the Hendrix Street 4-way stop at the north end of town. Turn east on Hendrix. Turn south at the next stop sign (Vandalia Street).
FROM THE WEST ON U.S. 40: At the fifth stoplight, turn north onto S.R. 59/Forest Ave. Turn east at the first stop sign (Hendrix St.). Turn south at the next stop sign (Vandalia St.)
Parade crew personnel will be on hand from 5 p.m. on to direct entrants into the lineup. Entrants who have a great deal of on-site assembly to perform should give themselves plenty of time to accomplish this.
The parade crew thanks everyone who helps to make this possible, and they hope that everyone enjoys the 2004 parade.
