Raymond M. Scott Jr., 18, of Brazil was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated following a one-car accident Saturday evening about 8:25 p.m.
According to the police report, Clay County Deputy Josh Clarke and Deputy Brian Pierce were dispatched to CR 1000 N and CR 300 W (Hendrix St. and Perth Road) and found Scott trapped in his 1995 Camero which was facing south at the T-intersection.
Scott had been traveling west on CR 1000N and crossed over center and off the south side of the road. The vehicle traveled several feet in a grassy area before colliding with the end of the guardrail head on.
The guardrail punctured the front of the car traveling through the passenger compartment to the rear wheel well. It passed between Scott's left leg and the driver's door causing severe injury to his left leg. His leg appeared to be fractured.
Scott was awake and coherent but was unsure of what had happened. He stated he did not have a driver's license. The deputies detected a strong odor of alcohol in the vehicle.
Scott was flown by Air Evac to Methodist Hospital where a drug and alcohol test was done. The results of the tests were not known by press time. Scott's condition, also, was unknown at press time. The accident is still under investigation.
