Chris Robinson, left, President of the Reserve Unit, talks with new Clay County Reserve Deputies, Homer Knopp, Rockville, Brison Swearingen, Brazil, and Matthew Rains, Brazil, at the Clay County Sheriff's Department. The men were sworn in Wednesday afternoon at the Clerk's Office.

Swearingen and Rains are students at ISU studying criminology. Eventually, they hope to have full time careers in law enforcement. Knopp is serving as a reserve officer for community involvement.

Robinson said the unit is allowed 20 reserve deputies. They currently have 17. Their duties include community events such as ball games and festivals, criminal patrol and assisting full time deputies.
