Grants sought to plant trees in park

Friday, December 3, 2004

The Brazil City Parks Board and the Clay County Parks Association are seeking $10,000 in grant money for tree planting at Forest Park next spring. The leaders of both groups discussed the Park 5-year plan, which has been approved by the City Council and the State, at Wednesday's board meeting at City Hall.

This plan allows the board and association to apply for numerous grants. The Parks Association is going to provide $2,000 for the tree planting venture and are going to apply for three grants.

Anyone interested in donating money or dedicating trees to the project should contact City Park Board members or the Mayor's office.

Board President Ruthann Jeffries also reported they have received $300 for squirrel food at the park. More is needed to have an adequate supply throughout the winter. Anyone wanting to donate for squirrel food should call board members or City Hall.
