Clay County Commissioner Daryl Andrews told The Brazil Times recently he wants to get the Clay County Economic Development Organization's feet off the ground, but they're also struggling with resources.
Andrews said the County Commissioners can't agree to allocate funds for CCEDO and, "(CCEDO) is basically in a position that they're going to have to find private financing or look at other resources available."
Andrews said CCEDO should not be confused with the Redevelopment Commission.
Funding for CCEDO is necessary, he said. "No county ever remains stagnant. You're either going to progress or regress. If you don't have some type of controlled plan for economic growth, you're going to regress into a lower tax base."
A lower tax base affects everyone and everything in the county from farmers to utilities to residents, Andrews said.
