On Tuesday, when Brazil City Police Officer Sgt. Dave Archer was sent out on a call to West Posey St. to check for all terrain vehicles illegally being used on the road, he wasn't expecting anything like what happened next.

Spotting a suspicious motorcyclist in the area, the driver recklessly took off without provocation creating the need for pursuit by Sgt. Archer.

It was 7:31 p.m.

Traveling in excess of speeds of 65 mph through neighborhood streets, the driver attempted to get away from police. According to police reports, the driver had a suspended license. Turning south onto Morgan St., the pursuit quickly ended with the driver losing control of the motorcycle and crashing into a ditch at the White Rock Road intersection.

It was now 7:32 p.m.

No ambulance was dispatched since the driver did not sustain injuries from the accident.

In one minute Steven Joseph Fields, 28, of Knightsville, went from riding a motorcycle to being arrested for resisting law enforcement and taken to the Clay County Jail.
