Spun Metals sold

Tuesday, December 14, 2004

Spun Metals Inc., 301 N. Murphy Ave., previously owned by Jeff and Brian Deakins, has been sold to Integrated Energy Technologies Inc. out of Evansville, Ind.

Michael Lampert, President of IET, announced Monday afternoon that they also purchased Meco Inc., of Paris Ill., recently. Lampert serves as president of Meco as well.

Lampert said IET produces niche products including state-of-the-art industrial robots.

Lampert said all employees from Spun Metals Inc. have been retained.

The company plans to also bring higher-paying, high-tech jobs to Brazil.

Additional information will follow after Lampert visits the local company later this week.

Jeff Deakins had no comment when contacted Monday. However in March, Brian Deakins told The Brazil Times that the company's future looks bright.

When contacted about a Manpower survey, Brian said the company had not participated in the survey, but "The second or third quarter (of 2004) is looking strong."
