Wal-Mart reecently do-nated so many toys to Clay Co. Toys for Tots it took six shopping carts and a pickup truck for area organizers to collect all the toys!
The $1,000 donation, like all contributions made at the local level, will remain in the county to will help provide Christmas to area needy children.
The county has been incredibly generous this year, said the two Clay Co. Toys for Tots co-chairmen when asked how the fund raising effort is going this year.
"We're so excited about the level of participation this year." said co-chairman Janet Bridgewater. "We're right where we want to be."
Linda Nicoson, the other co-chairman, quickly added, "New people get into the spirit of giving each year, allowing the program to help the children who need it most."
Collection boxes for donations of a new toy, and collection banks for monetary donations, are located around the area at local retail stores and banks.
"Every child deserves Christmas." smiled Staff Sgt. Tim Kosky, of the Marine Corp. League in Terre Haute, while bagging toys. "If not for the Toys for Tots program, many children would wake up without a glimmer of hope on Christmas."
The program will help approximately 300 area families this year. For more information about the local Toys for Tots program contact Holly Culver at (812) 870-2555.
