A Clay City man was transported to Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis by Air-Evac medical helicopter early Friday morning.
Richard A. Swearingen, 56, of Clay City was thrown from the minivan he was driving after it left the roadway and rolled three times on S.R. 59 at CR 100 W.
Indiana State Police report Swearingen's 1997 Oldsmobile was southbound on S.R. 59 around 2:30 this morning when, for some unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway. Swearingen overcorrected twice before the minivan slid sideways off the west side and rolled three times, ejecting the driver before coming to rest on its wheels. Police say Swearingen was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Swearingen's son is the Clay County Coroner.
