While Indiana State Police Det. Tony Guinn confirmed Thursday that a vehicle connected to the Toni Dickison murder investigation had been impounded at Plainfield, he also revealed it is not the first.
"It is in connection to this case," said Guinn, who joins Clay County Sheriff's Dept. Deputy Mike Heaton as lead investigator. It is at least the fourth vehicle police have considered as possibly being connected to the murder.
The ISP detective said law enforcement officials cannot conclude whether it is the vehicle that was used to transport the 18-year-old Terre Haute woman to the private pond where her body was dumped at Brazil. Her body was found Nov. 30.
Three other vehicles have been searched and released.
"We get information and we follow up on it and that's all this is," Guinn said. "It's information we've got and we've followed up on. We don't have any clear-cut information."
ISP Sgt. Joe Watts told the Brazil Times that investigators are making progress, stressing the importance of carefully considering every tip that comes in.
"We're glad to have new information," he said. "It makes you feel optimistic."
Persons with any information pertaining to the murder of Toni Dickison should call the ISP at 1-800-742-0717 or the CCSD at 446-2535.
