Judge Ernest Yelton appointed to State Gaming Commission

Another Clay County resident is being asked to serve the state.

Today Clay Circuit Court Judge Ernest Yelton was appointed the Executive Director of the Indiana Gaming Commissioner by Gov. Mitch Daniels. The 10 a.m. announcement was made in the Governor's Office at Indianapolis.

Yelton has been the Circuit Judge in Clay County for 25 years. He is serving his fifth term. As Circuit Court Judge, Yelton took the oath of office most recently on Dec. 10, also at Indianapolis.

Yelton and his his wife, Mary, have two adult children, Adam and Emily. The family plans to continue to reside in Brazil.

The stated mission of the Indiana Gaming Commission is "To license and regulate riverboat gambling in Indiana and ensure compliance with applicable statutes, rules, and regulations in a manner that promotes the integrity of gaming, and the best interest of the State of Indiana and its citizens."
