Prosecutor to be chosen tonight

Tuesday, January 18, 2005

Republican Party precinct committeemen will caucus tonight at 7 p.m. in the Circuit Court Courtroom to choose a new Clay County Prosecutor. Former Prosecutor David Thomas resigned his position Jan. 9, when he was picked by then Governor-elect Mitch Daniels to become the newly established Indiana Inspector General.

Republican Party Chairwoman Jennifer Buell said she had received three applications from local attorneys seeking the position, Robert A. Pell, B. Lee Reberger Jr. and Eric L. Wyndham. However, Pell withdrew his application to pursue the vacated Clay Circuit Judge position.

Buell said there are 23 precincts but three of those posts are not filled due to resignations. Precinct Committeeman Andrew Thomas will not be available for tonight's caucus because he has responsibilities in Indianapolis concerning Governor Daniels' State of the State Address. Buell is unsure of the exact number who will vote at tonight's caucus. She said any interested parties are welcome to attend.
