While traveling west on I-70, Tronika McFarland apparently swerved to miss a pot hole in the road and lost control of her 2002 Mitsubishi Spider Convertible.
The car left the road and ended up inverted alongside the shoulder with McFarland and a passenger trapped inside.
Clay County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police, Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department and Clay County Search and Rescue responded quickly to the scene.
Traffic was slowed for approximately a half hour while both victims were extricated from the vehicle.
The driver sustained unknown injuries and was transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital by Trans Care Ambulance, while the passenger was unharmed.
Red Bird Garage towed the vehicle from the scene around 11:40 a.m.
